Disc gate is a type of shut-off and control valves installed in pipelines to adjust or block the flow of the working medium. It consists of a metal housing, inside of which a rotating disk is mounted on the shaft. In the "closed" position, the disk plane is set perpendicular or at a slight angle to the flow; when the disk is rotated 90 degrees, the disk plane is set parallel to the flow and opens the pipe passage section. At a rotation angle less than 90 °, a partial opening of the pipeline section is achieved. To achieve complete tightness of the overlap, a seal made of polymer materials is installed in the housing. The body is made of cast iron or steel - carbon or stainless. Stainless steel is used for the disc and shaft, providing strength, heat resistance and anticorrosive properties of the joint.

According to the method of installation on the pipeline section , there are the following types of disc valves:

  • flanged;
  • flanged;
  • coupling;
  • welded (only for steel housings).

Disc valves are available in a wide range of standard sizes. The rotation of the disc axis for products with Dn up to 200 mm can be carried out manually; for large diameters, gearboxes, pneumatic, hydro and electric drives are used. In high-tech pipelines, remote control of the gate is possible.

Advantages of the disc shutter:

  • high tightness, including at high pressure;
  • strength and durability;
  • absence of stagnant zones;
  • speed of regulation;
  • easy installation and disassembly;
  • breadth of application. Disc valves are used in all industries, in construction, housing and communal services, and in transport.
