The main factors affecting the cost of stainless steel are:
- the brand of the material that determines its composition. The exchange value of iron and alloying additives is the main condition for fluctuations in the price of a certain steel grade;
- product dimensions. For sheet steel, these are the dimensions of the sheet (length, width, thickness), for pipes, the diameter and wall thickness, etc.;
- the quality of the surface, which can have different degrees of processing, up to mirror. Grinding and polishing operations increase the cost of stainless steel;
- the demand for this type of product. Stainless steel sheets, pipes, long and shaped rolled products of popular brands and sizes are produced in large batches by many manufacturers and are cheaper than rare versions, including those produced by special order;
- the market situation determined by the current supply and demand;
- country of manufacture. The cost of stainless steel from foreign manufacturers is influenced by currency fluctuations, it includes customs clearance costs and logistics costs for delivery from abroad. Because of this, the products of Russian enterprises are usually cheaper;
- margin size, which depends on a specific manufacturer, supplier or chain of suppliers. Therefore, it is always more profitable to purchase stainless steel from a direct manufacturer.
